I've run into a bit of trouble.... As the 911 was in the shop for suspension pan replacement, I was supposed to repaint the garage floor. Well, so I have, but something has gone wrong with the components in the paint - it has now been two full weeks, and the paint won't dry! I've had representatives from the paint manufacturer looking at it, and it has now been determined that I need to remove the paint all togehter (!) and redo the whole thing over again....
I need to stall the workshop for another two weeks, so they keep the car, or I will have nowhere to put it...
Finally got the garage floor finished - removing that partially wet paint by only using hand tools was a job I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy! Took me almost two full working days (for 6 by 7 meters!)...
Anyway - I got the car back a few days ago, after having the suspension pan replaced. See the picture below! I got to see the old, removed panels - they were -shall we say - rusty.... I'm glad I took the effort to change them; now I can feel safer when driving (whenever that happens again!...).
(here you can also see a bit of the newly finished garage floor!)
So what's next?
I'll refinish the fuel tank (light grey on top and black body coating on the underside) and refinish the front compartment (that is going to take some time...). After that, I'll start working on the front suspension and the rest of the underside of the car. And after that...
It's going to be a busy autumn and winter if I'm to get the car on the road next spring....
Update August 20 th, 2001
I **finally** have gotten hold of an engine for the car! With a bit of luck, I ran into an -82 3.0-liter RoW SC-engine, rated at 204hp. Got a complete package, including all electronics, clutch, drive shafts and exhaust system. Ran a compression test, which turned out near-perfect, and no sign of serious oil-leaks anywhere on the engine. Spark plugs looked perfect.
Even though I'm probably months away from installing the engine, it feels like I got one big step closer to a completed project today!
Here it sits on the home-made
trolley.
One of the dogs says "hello!"...

The garage is still a mess from the recent painting of the floor. I'm trying to get everything in place, so I can focus on the Porsche again! Haven't really done much in a few months, as you know...
Update September 11th, 2001
I have now started to take apart the front suspension, and here's the "before-pictures!

And here, it's starting to come off! I applied a lot of soaking oil a few days before starting, and so far all of the bolts have come off nicely!
Also new - awaiting lots of small parts for the engine, such as gaskets, spark plugs and filters.
At last, the project has started to move forward again!
Update November 23rd, 2001
I've been keeping myself busy! Front suspension and entire underside of the car is now finished (suspension is not in place yet though..). Have started to take the engine partiallay apart, to refinish some parts. Fan and shroud is off to be powderpainted - back next week.
Here's some recent pics, more to come shortly. I just LOVE those "before-and-after" pics!
